We feel privileged that you have chosen to have your surgery with us. It is natural to feel anxious about having a surgical procedure. We hope to make this process as smooth as possible for you. Your surgery will take place at an outpatient surgery center or at a local hospital. You will be directed to the specific site by our surgery schedulers.
Please see the exact locations and directions below. You will be instructed about the specific check-in time at the specific facility by our schedulers too. Sometimes last-minute schedule adjustments are necessary, so please make sure your contact information is current with our office.
It is imperative that you fast (no solid food nor liquids) within 8 hours of your scheduled surgery. Toddlers (age <5) may have clear liquids 4 hours prior to a scheduled surgery. For infants, breast milk is also acceptable up to 4 hours prior to surgery.
The following are standard recommendations regarding preoperative medications. You must discuss stopping your specific medications with your surgeon and/or prescribing physician. Please call your surgeon’s scheduler if you have any questions.
Please refrain from taking any following 7 days prior to your scheduled surgery:
- Aspirin (eg. Excedrin, BD, Goody's)
- ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
- naproxen (aleve)
- Meloxicam or diclofenac
- fish oil tablets
- vitamin E supplements
- Alka-Seltzer
- Pepto-BIsmol
- Phentermine or diet pills
Please stop anticoagulants and antiplatlet therapy (Eliquis, Xarelto, warfarin, coumadin, plavix) one week prior to scheduled surgery.
Please stop metformin 48 hours prior to scheduled surgery.

Yes, you can take essential medications (with the exception of the above), with a small sip of water. Taking more than a mouthful of water will result in cancellation of the planned surgery.
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting, clothing. No make up please. Please remove all jewelry and piercings.

As last-minute surgery cancellation wastes time and resources for your surgeon, our medical practice, the surgical facility, and anesthesiology staff, there is a $200 cancellation fee if surgery is cancelled less than 72 hours before the date of surgery and for no-shows. Please notify your surgery scheduler as soon as possible if you need to cancel surgery.
