Sinusitis

What are the symptoms?
  • Facial pressure or pain
  • Discolored nasal drainage
  • Decreased sense of smell
  • Difficulty breathing through the nose
What’s going on behind the scenes?
Sinuses are air-filled cavities located on both sides of the face around the cheeks and brows. Viruses, bacteria, and fungi can plug up the sinuses from time to time and result in sinusitis. Acute sinusitis can last up to 4 weeks. If symptoms last more than 12 weeks, then you have chronic sinusitis, which is very common
How Tucson ENT can help
Treatment involves saline flushes, antibiotics, topical medications. If your sinusitis does not respond to medical treatment, then surgery with minimally invasive techniques and balloon dilation may be needed. At Tucson ENT, we can examine the inside of the nose with endoscopic cameras, and we have an in-office CT scanner to diagnose sinus problems and provide answers on the day of your visit.
